July 9, 2025. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Fire Free Forests (3F) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding to co-develop an advanced airborne firefighting platform aimed at tackling the rising global threat of wildfires. The platform will be based on the 767BDSF, a specially adapted version of IAI’s BEDEK Special Freighter.
Boaz Levy, President and CEO of IAI, stated: “As wildfires grow in frequency and intensity due to climate change, the need for innovative, large-scale solutions has never been more urgent. We are proud to apply our advanced engineering and aircraft conversion capabilities to help protect lives around the world and look forward to collaborating with 3F on this.”
Fire Free Forests will be responsible for the commercial rollout, focusing on a subscription-based service model tailored for governments, reinsurers, and climate resilience initiatives. The company will also manage financing and public-sector engagement at a global level.
The global rollout of this firefighting capability will follow a phased deployment strategy, supported by international hubs in regions vulnerable to wildfires. Initial deployment locations will include the United States, Canada, Australia, and Southern Europe.
June 30, 2025. Startup Positive Aviation has announced that it has successfully raised €8 million in funds to support the development of its FF72 water scooper firefighting aircraft. The €8 million equity round will finance the development of the aircraft, derived from the ATR 72-600, as well as the consolidation of Positive Aviation’s French industrial and capital base.
The announcement follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bridger Aerospace, naming them as a launch customer for the aircraft. The deal with Bridger includes an order of 10 aircraft, as well as an option for 10 additional planes.
